"El Penal de Allende"
Veracruz, Ver.
The high security prison El Penal de Allende was considered a vast improvement over
the federal prison of San Juan de Ulua.
Built under the supervision
of Don Domingo Bureau and the jail occupies a square block and
is still in use today as the main prison, and office of the District
Attorney (Ministerio Publico) for the Port of Veracruz.
